I'm sorry about the eyes.
He'll be asking me to do the other one. He'll be asking.
We're sparring today with Luke, UFC veteran. He's even taller than Chase. His only advantage over me is tall, but obviously we're sparring guys. We're 6'7", 6'8". He's getting used to your distance. I'm glad that he's confident, but that's going to go against it, because if you're not nervous, you don't train properly. It's about size. Speed's the thing to kill. It doesn't matter how big you are. If you can't land a shot, what does it matter? So Andrew's focusing on speed, on movement, and on being out to land.
Jason might be big, he might be powerful, but is he going to be able to land? That's the question. Having the smaller guys, the head. For me, I hate sparring small guys. I like to spar the big strong guys because I can land, I know where to hit, they got a slower head looper and they don't move as efficiently. So trying to spar with the little guys, that's always tough. Big strong guys. Sparring big strong guys like Nigel, you're going to left hook your head off. Having that mixture and that diversity of sparring is good for Andrew and also he's training so fucking hard.
It's good to vary the level as well with the power. The little guys, it's not a rest mentally, but it's a little bit of a rest physically.
Then you know, you hear, then you hear, then you hear, and you're not sublanding. This is pointless. We're saying break, break, break, break. Teddy Smith steps out. Every time you come out, every time you have a hand in his face. You know what I mean? Or use that. After you left your hand there, he couldn't. That's a good thing to use. Then you can go easy.
involved in the training camp is super important. Not only is he the same height and the same build as this guy, but Luke has very, very good fight sense. He can emulate what the guy's doing. Just having a big guy is at love. Luke knows where to place his feet. He's watched the videos of the guy fight. He's throwing the punches very similar to that guy. So Andrew can move and counter. There's absolutely no substitute for experienced training partners.
One's more reaction time, one's just pure grit. Well, I prefer patch. He's lobbed to me. He's got to master a minute. He's a little back there.
All right, yeah, take it on. Take it,
- Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam. - Good.
Then go around, go around, go around. Back to me, back. Back, back.
Meta or the trick, when you're a bit tired, you do your gloves up while everyone else has already started work.
Warriors be warriors at all time. Iron sharp into iron. You can't be tired, you can't be lazy, you can't lackluster anything. Everything's got to be perfect, sharp, boom boom boom. And then someone is fucking around, you have to pick up on it. You're like, yo, get the fuck back.
Back in line. Back, back, back. High energy all the time. Power, persistence, that's how you win.
I'm very glad for that. I kind of find it strange that more brothers aren't as close as we are. I think that's what both gives you a brother for. That's the whole point of it, right? I think modern society gets in the way, you know, people get married and their wives start moaning, they get their own kids and move out and things kind of separate brothers. But I think that you're strongest when you have your brothers by your side, whether they're biological or otherwise. I think men have evolved.
being gangs or groups or tribes or teams, I think that's who you're most competitive. Even if you look at a fighter, he gets in the ring alone but he trains at a camp with other fighters. This is how we are. So I have a full time fight camp. We live together, we work together, we train together. We're best friends in the world.
- I'm crazy. He's crazy at you. That's why he's at you. - If you weren't here, he wouldn't be smiling. He's doing it at you. Just keep resting.
- I don't know how this can't survive for six rounds, and he's winning. We're getting tired. What are you gonna do? It can happen, bro. Let's go. 15 seconds.
- 10 seconds. 10 seconds. Yes, yes, yes.
That's it, that's it, that's it, all right. Stay on, stay on, stay on, stay on, stay on. Time. Well done, mate, well done. It was very funny. As well, sometimes you get a little bit of balance and you fall over your feet or whatever. You've got to just control your body. I control my body by not doing it. But I ain't fighting. So it's all right. Marcel takes time off. I'm getting it. But next year when I'm fighting, you'll be the one saying, Luke, fucking WF.
Remember when you made me do 20? Remember when you made me do 5 sets? Thank you. You're gonna underestimate it, Hobbs. Rest when you dig. When you watch on it, it doesn't look hard. 'Cause you're slow almost, like, and you're fucking losing your whole body. Little guys make you look like when he does it, you say, "Fuck, and I was running fast." It takes tiny steps. You can tell a lot about a man by the size of problems he adopts. That's the easiest way to judge a man. If you have to meet a man for the first time and you want to see what kind of person he is,
It's very important, you're very conscious and cognitive and aware of what's bothering you, what's in your brain, what are you thinking about, are you going to care about this in five years from now. You know, there's a lot of people who are run by their brains instead of running their brains. And I think that if you actually sit down and analyze your mind and decide what thoughts you're going to have and decide which way they're going to all operate, life's a lot easier as opposed to just being a victim of whatever your mind wants to come up with.
He's given me more time than I expected, so good enough. Much appreciated. Thank you. I have sparred with Andrew for over 15 years and I'll be honest, he's hitting harder now than he's ever hit before. And to me that's insane. Like, I thought we're going to get older and we're going to get slower. He's actually more powerful than ever before, so I genuinely believe he puts Chase Tamora away in one round. And I'm not saying that to Glaze, I'm not saying that to, you know, a bias point of view.
you
I'm Laurent Murphy, UFC February, number four in the world. I'm out here in Dubai getting some work in with Andrew. It's a pleasure really to be able to help him with his camp. Luke as well, we've got some good work in today.
I think naturally, because he's fought forever. His reaction skills, his reaction is there. And it's no wonder that they call him Cobra because he's like, he's slip and go. He's dangerous man. So I'm looking forward to seeing him get the knockout win in December and I'm fully confident in his ability.
- I think he's got like a karate short, and he's got a lot of power on his right hand. He's got power on his left as well, but I think the right hand is ridiculously powerful. And if he catches, chases at his feet, over.
